Students are strongly encouraged to attend the lecture! As well as being an excellent opportunity to build your professional network, students will gain insight into the field of civil and structural engineering, including technical design, construction, and business aspects. Many current practicing engineers have said that attending the Paul Zia Lecture as a student helped them find their focus within the broad field of Civil Engineering. 

Are you an E101 or E102 student? Attend the lecture to earn co-curricular activity credit! Confirm with your section's instructor prior to attending that you will receive credit and if any documentation of attendance is required. 

Many Civil Engineering student organizations are helping to promote and plan to attend the lecture this year. If you participate in a student organization that is involved, consider the following opportunities to benefit from the lecture and grow your organization, such as:

  • Attending the lecture as a group

  • Hosting a student-led discussion panel following the event

  • Speaking to past presenters at your monthly meetings about attending the lecture

  • Contacting the Zia Lecture Committee about getting involved
